Everything You Should Know About GTA 5 Multiplayer 2021
Online GTA 5 Auction House Opens Tomorrow
Grand Theft Auto Online will go live on PC and PS4 tomorrow, with the sale itself taking place at midnight UTC (2am Eastern time). However, the actual price on the in-game Bitcoin Auction House won't be decided until 10pm, which is when it's currently set.
Now, this is no guarantee that the auction house price will go up once the sale actually starts. While it's possible, the rising number of BTC is creating an artificial cap on how much the market can rise before crashing back down. That's why we're not seeing prices soar right now: it's only a matter of time before the BTC price inevitably rises and then plummets again.
If you're new to this, remember that Bitcoin isn't actually a currency; it's a crypto-currency, meaning there's no government controlling it or taking it from you. It's simply a mathematical puzzle that people are vying to solve in exchange for a certain amount of BTC.
There's no value to BTC yet; people are just going crazy trying to earn BTC before the network becomes congested. The only way to purchase a vehicle or item in GTA Online with BTC is to trade your BTC to another player. The BTC can be stored in an online wallet, but you can only put in so much at a time.
The process to place a bid is simple, and you can see how much BTC you have in your wallet by going to the "My Wallet" menu on GTA Online's profile page. Once you've entered your credit card or debit card details, click "I want to buy something" and type in your bid amount in the "I'd like to purchase" field.
Remember, however, that GTA Online is free to play. You don't need to spend money to take advantage of the car, weapon, and vehicle armor sales that are the bedrock of the game. You also don't need to spend a penny to drop in to GTA Online and play the game to your heart's content. If you're a GTA Online veteran, there's not much to tell you that the car, weapon, and vehicle armor market is worth $9.99 for vehicles, and $6.99 for weapon and vehicle armor.
And if you're not into car-jacking criminals and running drugs, there's not much to tell you that those items aren't worth thousands of dollars. The only difference is the availability of BTC, the digital gold to buy these very expensive items.
Grand Theft Auto Online only launched on the PC earlier this week, and it was expected to go live on PS4 and Xbox One later this week. You can read our review of the PC version here.
It's certainly not the first time Rockstar has used the sale of items in GTA Online to raise money for charity. In April, the sale of certain "only in GTA Online" vehicles raised money for disaster relief. Rockstar provided a list of the auction items you could bid on back in April.
In other Grand Theft Auto Online news, Rockstar confirmed earlier this week that there are plans for a "more substantial" update that could launch "in a few weeks." This update will include a "smooth transition" from GTA Online to Red Dead Redemption 2, according to a tweet from a Rockstar support employee. If you've already purchased Red Dead Redemption 2, you can use the new Grand Theft Auto Online features to give you more incentive to keep playing.
GTA Online has no microtransactions, so a successful auction run on the BTC Auction House could be a rare opportunity for those who want to put some of their wealth aside for a rainy day.
We'll keep you posted as more information comes to light.

Our Take
I don't really have any comments on this as I don't play GTA Online, but I guess there's a chance that GTA Online inflation may increase the price of an item after the auction house opens. I guess I should be glad that I didn't waste $60 on a new car that I could have purchased with my own money a few weeks ago.

Earlier today, Rockstar launched the "First Batch" of items in GTA Online's new Bikers DLC. But the real money-making opportunity is in the BTC Auction House that went live this morning. The first Bikers-themed auction featured "certain not-so-customized motorcycles, their parts and accessories," according to a Rockstar Support tweet.
The BTC Auction House is a new feature in GTA Online that allows you to bid on items in the game's Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC. The items are "Available only in Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online," but don't think it's just a vehicle buy-sell-trade economy.
"We're just learning of this opportunity and have no further details to share at this time," Rockstar told GameSpot.
